The Huntington Beach City School District (HBCSD) is proud to recognize three outstanding team members as our March Shoreline Standouts: Debbie Jones from Administrative Services, and Kelley Ciccarelli and April Levin from Peterson Elementary School. Together, these honorees reflect the care, professionalism, and dedication that strengthen our schools and District community each day.

Each month, the Shoreline Standouts program celebrates employees who positively impact their school communities, exemplify the HBCSD Learner Profile traits, and bring the District’s focus areas to life through their daily work. This month’s recipients are recognized for their kindness, collaboration, and commitment to supporting students, families, and colleagues.

Debbie Jones - Classified Payroll/Benefits Technician, Administrative Services

In the fast-paced world of payroll and benefits, Debbie Jones is known for bringing both expertise and positivity to every interaction. As a Payroll/Benefits Technician in Administrative Services, Debbie plays an important role in ensuring employees across the District receive the support and information they need.

Colleagues describe Debbie as hardworking, dependable, and always willing to help. Whether answering questions about timecards, assisting staff with payroll concerns, or guiding employees through benefits processes, Debbie approaches every situation with patience and professionalism.

Nominators also highlighted the positive energy Debbie brings to the District Office and beyond. Her friendly demeanor, willingness to make time for others, and ability to put people at ease help create a supportive and welcoming environment for staff across all sites. Through her dedication and service, Debbie helps ensure that essential systems run smoothly while fostering strong relationships with colleagues throughout the District.

Kelley Ciccarelli - School Office Assistant, Peterson Elementary School

At Peterson Elementary, the front office serves as the heart of the school, and Kelley Ciccarelli helps ensure that heart beats with warmth, kindness, and efficiency every day. As a School Office Assistant, Kelley is often the first person students, families, and staff encounter, and she consistently creates a welcoming and supportive environment.

Nominators shared that Kelley greets students and families with a smile and genuine care, helping set a positive tone for the school day. She is quick to assist wherever needed, supporting staff and students alike to ensure that daily operations run smoothly.

Beyond her role in the office, Kelley is engaged with the Peterson community. She takes an active interest in school events and activities and is always ready to lend a helping hand. Her friendly presence and willingness to support others help build strong connections across the school community.

April Levin - Speech-Language Pathologist, Peterson Elementary School

As a Speech-Language Pathologist at Peterson Elementary, April Levin plays an instrumental role in helping students develop the communication skills that support their learning, confidence, and connection with others. Known for her expertise, compassion, and collaborative spirit, April is committed to helping every student reach their full potential.

Nominators shared that April is highly resourceful and thoughtful in designing individualized, evidence-based interventions that support diverse student needs. She builds trusting relationships with students and families, creating a supportive environment where students feel safe and empowered to grow.

April’s impact extends well beyond her direct work with students. She is a valued collaborator among staff and a respected leader within the speech-language pathology team. Colleagues appreciate her willingness to share knowledge, mentor others, and contribute to a strong professional community focused on student success.
