HBCSD Celebrates November Shoreline Standouts: Jessica Ratledge, Paul Lennon, and Rosanna Lopez

The Huntington Beach City School District (HBCSD) is proud to recognize Jessica Ratledge, Paul Lennon, and Rosanna Lopez as the November Shoreline Standouts, honoring employees who embody the District’s values and go above and beyond to make HBCSD an extraordinary place to learn and work.

Each month, the Shoreline Standouts program celebrates staff who exemplify excellence, compassion, and commitment to the District’s mission of empowering all learners to achieve their full potential. These honorees are recognized for their dedication to District goals, demonstration of the HBCSD Learner Profile traits, and the positive impact they make on students, colleagues, and the community.

Jessica Ratledge – Library Media Technician (formerly School Office Assistant), Eader Elementary

Known for her professionalism, warmth, and genuine connection with students, Jessica Ratledge has been an integral part of the Eader Elementary community since 2021. Recognized as a Shoreline Standout for her exceptional service as Eader’s School Office Assistant, Jessica was recently promoted to Library Media Technician, where she continues to make a meaningful impact on students and staff alike.

Her colleagues say she knows most students by name, reflecting her caring nature and dedication to building strong relationships.

Her nominator described her as the “heartbeat” of the school:

“Mrs. Ratledge’s warm smile is the first thing families and students see when they enter the office. She goes out of her way to make everyone feel valued and cared for, whether she’s helping a student with a scraped knee, assisting a teacher, or offering a kind word to a colleague. She makes Eader a more welcoming, organized, and joyful place.”

Jessica embodies the District’s focus on Supportive School Environments and Engaged Community, as well as the Learner Profile traits of Resourcefulness, Caring, and Responsibility.

Paul Lennon – School Counselor, Eader Elementary

Paul Lennon has a gift for connection. As Eader’s school counselor, he builds trust with students and empowers them to navigate challenges with confidence. Through his calm presence, empathy, and proactive support, Paul cultivates a positive and inclusive school culture that aligns with HBCSD’s goals of Academic Achievement and a Supportive School Environment.

Colleagues praise his dedication and creativity in supporting students’ emotional well-being:

“Mr. Lennon goes above and beyond for the students of Eader. He connects with kids who are struggling, encourages kindness and empathy, and teaches valuable lessons on respect and resilience. His anti-bullying presentations made a lasting impact on students, helping them understand the power of compassion.”

Whether he’s leading group discussions, checking in with a student in need, or collaborating with teachers, Paul’s caring and responsible approach helps every child feel seen, supported, and capable of success.

Rosanna Lopez – Food Services Program Manager

Behind every delicious and nutritious meal served in HBCSD cafeterias is a dedicated team, and Rosanna Lopez is one of the key people who makes it all possible. As a Food Services Program Manager, Rosanna plays an essential role in ensuring that students receive healthy meals served with care and efficiency. She exemplifies the District’s focus on Responsible Use of Resources and Supportive School Environments, as well as the Learner Profile traits of being Caring, Resourceful, and Responsible.

Her nominators describe her as dependable, compassionate, and always ready to help:

“Rosanna serves as a vital, behind-the-scenes contributor to the success of Food Services. Her dedication and reliability ensure the department runs smoothly, and her compassion toward colleagues and students shines through every day. She goes above and beyond to support her team and make sure no detail is overlooked.”

Rosanna’s leadership and care uplift those around her, making a meaningful difference in how the District nourishes both bodies and hearts.
Each honoree was recognized with a Shoreline Standouts collector’s coin and a certificate of recognition as a token of appreciation for their outstanding contributions.
